A morning encounter with Linder and guests where artist and perfume expert Paul Schütze, artist Naima Karlsson (Moki Cherry’s granddaughter), Chatsworth House Head of Collections’ Kate Brindley and Nottingham Contemporary’s director Sam Thorne will be in conversation discussing a wide array of multisensory aspects behind The House of Fame exhibition.

To celebrate the launch of a new Linder publication accompanying the exhibition, Linder will sign copies after the event.

Speaker biographies:
Naima Karlsson is an artist and musician from London. Her practice includes photography, drawing, assemblage, text and music composition. Naima is a current member of AltMFA alternative art school and has an MA in Art History from Birkbeck College. She is also a granddaughter of Don and Moki Cherry, and an archivist for their estate.
Paul Schütze has worked for over thirty years as an artist in the fields of, photography, video, sound and installation. He was a founding member of Australian experimental band Laughing Hands and of Phantom City: an international collective of musicians working both live and virtually from points across the globe. He has performed with sound & film works in over a dozen countries and released over thirty albums of original music. His works have been exhibited in numerous international galleries and museums. His photographic work is held in significant public and private collections. He has collaborated with major international artists including James Turrell, Josiah McElheny & Isaac Julien.
Paul runs the online sensory archive Dressing The Air and in 2014 began to develop olfactory elements for his exhibition Silent Surface, creating a perfume called In Libro De Tenebris. The work was nominated in the experimental category of the Art And Olfaction Awards. He installed three bespoke fragrances in The Sir John Soane Musuem in 2015 designed to evoke the olfactory climate of the house when it was occupied. He created three perfumes for Studio Swine’s 2017 Milan installation New Spring. In 2016 He launched fragrance house Paul Schütze Perfume with partner Chris Rickwood.
Kate Brindley become the first Director of Collections & Exhibitions for the Devonshire Group in January 2017, a new role to lead the artistic content at Chatsworth and Lismore Castle and development of the significant collections across the organisation.
Kate has over 25 years’ experience in the visual arts and museums sector including being Head of Arts and Museums for Wolverhampton where she led the RIBA award winning capital development of Wolverhampton Art Gallery.  From 2005-2009 Kate was Director of Bristol Museums, Galleries and Archives and lead for the South West Renaissance museums programme. Her achievements included developing M Shed, a £26million new museum, and the record-breaking Banksy V Bristol Museum exhibition 2009. Kate was Director of mima (Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art) until March 2014 where she led the international visual arts programme and a governance change to University control. She was CEO of the Arnolfini in Bristol for 3 years leading their successful finalist award for Museum of the Year in 2016.
For 8 years she was one of only four national advisors for the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Art Funding Programme, including being the key advisor for the influential ‘Our Museums’ initiative focussed on active participation in museums until 2016.
