As Corby’s only art gallery the Rooftop Arts Centre’s Annual Summer Show (5th – 29th of June 2019) is the best opportunity for local artists to show the town what they can do. Artists have been invited to fill the walls of the gallery and the exhibition will showcase the skills and creativity of local people.
The exhibition builds on the success of last year’s exhibition and aims to help local artists have a regular platform to reach a wider audience, with a chance to sell their work and meet other creatives within the area.
Artists are given a wall space of approximately 4ft x 8ft each and the gallery can hold 70 artists at this size which gives tremendous freedom in comparison to other open group exhibitions. Work submitted to the exhibition will include painting, drawing, photography and sculpture and will be eligible for winning two possible prizes.
First prize is a solo show in the medium gallery space which will be judged and revealed on the opening night. The second is a public choice award with voting throughout the exhibition for a free solo exhibition in our small gallery.
The Rooftop Arts Centre is Corby’s only art gallery and on site there are 16 artists’ studios, a photo studio and space for workshops and classes, along with regular music events.
Speaking about the exhibition Dinah Kazakoff, Director of the Rooftop Arts Centre said: “The Annual Summer show is a permanent fixture in the gallery programme and we really hope it brings together local artists to celebrate all the creativity of Corby and surrounding areas.”
