The global pandemic has had a huge impact on the creative community in Derby and Derbyshire, whether it be museums and galleries being forced to close, small businesses being unable to open or freelancers missing out on commissions as organisations scale back their programmes. We want to create a platform to identify the concerns of Derby and Derbyshire’s creative community and figure out how we as organisations working with and for our communities can overcome them, by sharing our experiences, ideas, and ambitions, and creating an action plan for the comeback of our creative communities.
We will have short presentations from organisations who are responding creatively to the pandemic: Artcore from Derby; Julie Batten of People Express from Swadlincote; Jemma Burton of Junction Arts from Chesterfield (tvc); Elizabeth Hawley
-Lingham Director of CVAN EM; and Rebecca Davies of The Portland Inn Project in Stoke. Debbie Porter at Derbyshire County Council, and Mike Brown, Arts Development Manager at Derby City Council, will also be joining the discussion. This event will be a Zoom forum on 23rd July, 11am – 1pm. It is open to freelancers, creatives, artists and organisations, and participants will be sent Zoom meeting login details once they have booked.
The C3 – Creative Community Comeback Meet on 23 July is an online platform to look at these issues and possible solutions.
