Surface Gallery is excited to announce the exhibition for our ninth East Midlands Graduate Project, EM17: [CO]HERE.
[CO]HERE presents a range of visually entertaining works that explore challenging concepts and themes. Toppling towers, dripping water shrines, and images of silence in Sneinton are just some of the works on show at this eclectic exhibition. [CO]HERE is an exhibition of contrasts, expect the playful and the serious, the virtual and the real, the disparate and the coherent.
EM17: [CO]HERE opens with a DJ set by Osborne (Gallery Sounds) in the Main Gallery, in conjunction with Perfume as Practice, a solo exhibition by Michael Borkowsky in the Project Space. As always, there will be a donations bar with ales from local brewery, Springhead. The bar will also offer original cocktails created exclusively for the Opening Night by the artists.
Free Entry: Everyone Welcome
Throughout October, the EM17 artists will be delivering a series of workshops. For details and to book your place, visit: http://www.surfacegallery.org/workshops/
The East Midlands Graduate Project supports Fine Art graduates across the region as they make the transition from university to the professional art world. [CO]HERE is the culmination of a four-week residency undertaken in Surface Gallery’s top-floor Project Space. Eight of the region’s most exciting new graduate artists have been commissioned to produce original work for the exhibition. Each of the artists have built on their successes at university and developed their practice and creativity to produce pieces to attract and engage the viewer.
