From: 14th July 2017 12:00 pm

To: 19th August 2017 6:00 pm

33 Seely Road, Nottingham, United Kingdom

PREVIEW AND PERFORMANCE: Thursday 13 July, 6–10pm
14 July – 19 August, Friday-Saturday, 12noon–6pm or by appointment

For his first project in the UK, Swiss artist Guillaume Pilet will be in residence at Primary to develop DREAM A LITTLE DRAMA, an initial sketch for a new sculpture-opera-work. Stepping back towards the artist’s roots, the project seeks to redefine a formal and poetic context based on his own cultural background.

The installation will mix classical painting and vernacular folklore, family customs and popular dramaturgy, childhood memories and pre-globalized 90s culture. Within this theatrical set, a performer will act as the artist’s alter ego, using the language of popular culture to introduce elements of Pilet’s cultural autobiography.

Guillaume Pilet lives and works in Lausanne, Switzerland.

This forms part of Object Performance, a series of commissions presented by Primary & TG, combining residency and exhibition formats, alongside new performances. The programme is supported by The Ampersand Foundation, The Elephant Trust, The Henry Moore Foundation, Pro Helvetia and The Embassy of the Netherlands, London.
