A collaboration between Derby’s new Cathedral Quarter bar The Worm Has Turned and local artist John McDonald, the Butterfly Cry Artist.
On behalf of the artist I would like to invite you to attend a beautiful evening of Art, Live Music, and good company in a new Derby bar, The Worm Has Turned, on Thursday 31st October from 7pm. Not only will the venue be showcasing John’s paintings, but he’s also painting some beautiful original art directly on the walls. Following the departure of the knife angel next week it’s great to see innovative collaboration in Derby’s local art scene.
Specialising in Continental beers, as well as Traditional English Real Ales, wines and spirits, The Worm Has Turned is a new hub for Arts, Music and Culture in Derby, a chic restoration of a Heritage building on the corner of Queen Street and Cathedral Road. Entry is free, and with Live Music from Kev Andrews, and stunning artwork by John McDonald, this promises to be a really good night.
Below are YouTube links to 2 very short, but beautiful, films made by University of Derby Student Joshua Timmins, which explore the relationships between John’s art and deafness before and after his cochlear implant. There will be quite a number of Deaf people and sign language users at the launch, showing a real integration and reflecting the unique culture of Derby.
