It Takes A Region To Raise An Artist research published!

This week saw us, in partnership with CAMEo – the University of Leicester’s Research Institute for Cultural and Media Economies – launch the publication of the It Takes A Region To Raise An Artist research, which investigates the visual arts economy in the East Midlands region. This research provides us for the first time with a mapping of the region’s visual arts provision and data about the region’s visual arts workforce: its demographic, its employment, its challenges, its ambitions. Importantly, it pinpoints areas for further research and allows us to consider what would make the biggest difference to the visual arts sector, for artists and audiences.

The research was launched at an event at Phoenix in Leicester on 24th October 2019, which featured a discussion about the research and a conversation with a panel of guest contributors about support for artists in the East Midlands and developing the region’s visual arts sector overall.
