New Art Gallery  Walsall
23rd July, 2016 – January, 2017

The New Art Gallery Walsall owns jointly with Birmingham Museums Trust a collection of international art on the theme of the Metropolis – which was generously supported by The Art Fund – and Landscape is a central theme of its renowned Garman Ryan Collection. This exhibition showcases works which complement these themes and have been collected by the Gallery over the last few years by Willie Doherty, John Newling, David Rowan, Paul Seawright and Emma Stibbon.

For Part 2: Landscape and the urban Environment, Nottingham-based artist and Emeritus Professor of Installation Sculpture at Nottingham Trent University, John Newling, is showing his work A Tree and Us, a work acquired direct from his studio, this being the first time it has been shown to the public.
