Artist Commission

We are looking for artists to create designs for a flock of 25 swan sculptures that will each nest in a different spot in and around the town of Burton Upon Trent. Thousands of people will enjoy a free day out as they become swan seekers between June and September 2020. They’ll be able to download a map from our website, download a mobile app which will enable them to unlock rewards when a swan is ‘found’, take ‘swan selfies’, join the buzz on social media and seek out the stories behind each swan and the artists and business behind it.

The project will raise money for Burton and District YMCA, a charity that supports people in crisis and enables people to belong, contribute and thrive in our local community.

We are happy to receive submissions from artists in all locations, but priority will be given to artists from East Staffordshire. All styles are welcome, more details about restrictions can be found in the artist pack. Designs that are chosen by the businesses who sponsor each of the sculptures will recieve an honorarium of £500 to paint the full sized swan.
