Libraries, Automata and The Big Draw

Inspire: Culture, Learning and Libraries is a charitable community benefit society delivering cultural and learning services across Nottinghamshire.

Inspire will become a National Portfolio Organisation resulting in a £1M investment between 2018 – 2022 from Arts Council England and will commission artists to create and deliver a programme of visual arts and literacy activity in libraries.

The Big Draw Festival

Inspire delivers visual art Big Draw workshops in Libraries throughout October. Families, community groups and schools take part and the artwork produced is displayed in a library gallery touring exhibition.

Brief

This opportunity splits into 3 parts you can apply for all or part of this brief.

1 Consultation with School Groups

Design and deliver a workshop around the art form and drawing to discover and develop ideas for the commission in a consultation exercise. Working with 12 schools during summer term 2018.  The ideas, designs and artworks from the workshop sessions will form part of the touring exhibition alongside the finished piece of automata artwork. Fee £4620

2 The Commission

Design and make an automaton celebrating reading inspired by the school workshops to be featured as the centre piece of our 2018 Big Draw Exhibition. The automata artwork will ideally be a collection box. After the exhibitions the piece will have a permanent home in Libraries and form part of a continued legacy for Inspire as a result of the NPO status. Fee £8000

3 The Big Draw Workshops for Families in Libraries

Design and deliver family Big Draw workshops in the 12 NPO libraries during The Big Draw Festival 2018. Fee £1800
