Artist Commissions

Essex Cultural Diversity Project is calling for proposals for our next two place-based artist commissions, which will focus on National Trust properties in Colchester and Coggeshall.

Budgets: £18,000 (Colchester) / £12,000 (Coggeshall)
Deadline: Thursday 21 November (2pm)
Interviews:  26 November (Colchester) / 27 November (Coggeshall)

We will be approaching these projects as two separate commissions, and are inviting arts practitioners of all kinds, whether visual artists, authors, musicians, poets, dance, theatre companies or artistic collectives, to send in proposals for either Bourne Mill in Colchester, or Paycocke’s House and Grange Barn in Coggeshall. You are welcome to send in proposals for both, but each will be treated as a separate project.

The commissions will provide a unique opportunity to creatively explore National Trust properties. We would like the artist(s) to engage local communities, staff, volunteers and visitors to create new work in response to the buildings and their locations, as well as the social history and stories they tell. For the commission in Coggeshall this will be Paycocke’s House and Grange Barn; for the commission in Colchester this will be Bourne Mill.
