Artist & Creative Practitioner

Pedestrian Ltd is an arts and education charity based in the heart of Leicester’s city centre. We provide education, training and outreach projects for young people at risk, vulnerable adults and communities in Leicester, Leicestershire and across the Midlands.

We would like to hear from artists and creative practitioners who would like to be considered for delivering future workshops and creative activities with children, young people and vulnerable adults as part of our on-going programme. This is an opportunity to join our register of creative tutors that we will call upon, when opportunities are available which can be one offs, short term or longer term and we cannot guarantee regular work due to the nature of our projects and funding.

To express an interest in these roles, please send a CV and a short expression of interest. Expressions of interest should answer the following questions:

  • Your experience in leading workshops with children, young people and/or adults.
  • Your area of expertise or artform specialism
  • Examples of participatory workshops you can lead including photos, recordings, films, etc

Pedestrian is committed to equality of opportunity and as such applications from all backgrounds are welcomed. We encourage applications by people with lived experience of the issues faced by the young people and communities that we support; artists of BME heritage; particularly interested in practitioners with a socially-engaged art practice; who have experience in working with children/families from diverse backgrounds and who enjoy working collaboratively to co-design programmes of work.

Experience of delivering Arts Awards (at any level) is also desirable.

Applicants will need to have a current DBS certificate (we can support if out of date), provide ID to prove Right to Work in UK and complete our Safeguarding procedure before any work can commence. Pay rate starts at £25p/h depending on session/project and additional materials budget is provided.

If you have experience delivering arts workshops and feel you would fit in with Pedestrian’s ethos of ‘Pioneering Potential’ please get in touch.
