Assessor, Museums Accredition

We are looking for an Assessor, Museums Accreditation to join the Accreditation team within Arts Council’s Collections and Cultural Property team, part of the Arts and Culture Department.

The role is fixed term appointment for 6 months and available as a temporary secondment opportunity to support preparations for relaunch of Accreditation later in 2018 following our review of the Scheme. The Accreditation team is primarily based in Birmingham with assessors also working from the Newcastle and Manchester offices. There may be some flexibility on work location although regular training and panel meetings will be held in Birmingham.

The successful candidate will have an awareness of collection management and museum practice gained through experience of working in museums or similar cultural organisations. You will have a basic understanding of governance and management structures in the cultural sector. Knowledge of current Arts Council and wider museum sector activity, direction and initiatives would be highly beneficial.

You will have excellent interpersonal, negotiation skills and planning skills and have experience of critically analysing business information, identifying challenges and opportunities.

You will have strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to think creatively, exercising sound judgement and making decisions, influencing and persuading people at all levels. You will be highly organised with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and remain calm under pressure.

You must have experience of developing and maintaining positive relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
