Leeds Museums and Galleries is seeking to appoint an Assistant Curator, Fine Art with a specialism in works on paper to cover a period of maternity leave at Leeds Art Gallery.
Leeds Museums and Galleries holds one of the finest collections of prints and drawings in Britain and is particularly strong in the area of English watercolours. The collection includes around 3,000 drawings and watercolours and around 2,000 prints all of which form part of the Designated Fine Art collection.
The post will be based at Leeds Art Gallery which is one of the nine venues operated by Leeds Museums and Galleries, part of Leeds City Council. Leeds Museums and Galleries is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. In 2018/19 Leeds Art Gallery welcomed over 469,000 visitors and is the third most visited free attraction for Yorkshire and Humber according to VisitEngland’s latest annual survey.
This post will pick up existing projects including a collection exhibition, the Picture Library scheme and ongoing collections work such as enquiries and documentation. It is a temporary post until 29 November 2020.
