Leeds Museums and Galleries seek to appoint an Assistant Curator, Fine Art with a specialism in works on paper to join the team, based at Leeds Art Gallery.
The works on paper collection includes around 3000 drawings and watercolours, and around 2000 prints. These form part of Leeds Museums and Galleries’ Designated fine art collection.
The post holder will assist in the development, care and interpretation of this important collection of works on paper, bringing a dynamic approach and contributing to access and engagement for a wide range of audiences. Working with volunteers on projects forms part of the role.
The Assistant Curator will also work on the Picture Library, a membership scheme which provides residents and businesses in Yorkshire with the opportunity to borrow original works of art to hang on the walls of their homes or offices.
Leeds Art Gallery re-opened in October 2017 after an eighteen month closure for essential building repairs and this is an exciting time to join the team. The Gallery is part of Leeds Museums and Galleries run by Leeds City Council. The service is also an Arts Council England Major Partner Museum and from April 2018 will be a National Portfolio Organisation.
We promote diversity and want a workforce that reflects the population of Leeds.
