Assistant Curator (Part-time)

Salary £20,783 per annum pro-rata
4 days a week (28 hours per week)
Fixed term contract to initially the end of May 2018
Nottingham Contemporary is one of largest and leading centres for contemporary art in the UK. We opened in 2009 to great acclaim in a landmark new building by Caruso St John in the middle of Nottingham. We have welcomed over 1.3 million visitors since then. Our programme is mainly devoted to significant  emerging and mid-career contemporary artists, alongside occasional solo exhibitions of modernist and pre-20th century figures that have a particular resonance for artists today. We also produce and present ambitious group exhibitions, such as The Place Is Here, Monuments Should Not Be Trusted, Glenn Ligon: Encounters and Collisions, Aquatopia: The Imaginary of the Ocean Deep and Kafou: Haiti, Art and Vodou, which situate artistic practices within a wide field of ideas.

The Assistant Curator (part-time) will be part of the exhibitions team, working alongside another Assistant Curator (full-time), the Assistant Registrar (part-time) and the Head of Exhibitions.

The Assistant Curator contributes to the realisation of Nottingham Contemporary’s exciting exhibitions programme. You will help to project manage exhibitions and other projects, ensuring effective co-ordination and scheduling, researching loans, organising transport, insurance and contracts,  and contributing to the interpretation, documentation and publicising of the programme. You will have at least two years relevant experience. Excellent written and verbal skills, experience of budget monitoring, an aptitude for teamwork, an attention to detail, an ability to meet deadlines under pressure, and an understanding of what it means to work with art and artists and a large, diverse public, are all essential.

This position is a fixed term contract initially to end of May 2018.
