Call for Public Art Proposals

This is an exciting opportunity for an Artist to be involved in a new public art piece for Priory Park in Nottingham. Artists’ proposals should demonstrate how the work will reflect the history of the park and the Priory and make it interesting for its current users, tell stories and engage all ages. The finished work should aspire to tell a story about the park and reflect its past.

There will be 3 shortlisted artists in total, each artist will be paid to make a model of their design and be part of the competitive process, which will include a public vote.

There is a budget of up to £10,000 for the commissioned piece, to include

  • Design
  • Materials for the art work
  • All travel and associated costs to make this work

This project aims to bring history to life in a creative way and reflect important elements of this site, which is in the heart of a diverse and energetic part of the city. The park is set to undergo further changes and it has been decided to commission a piece of public art that will help tell a story of what was there in the past and how the site has changed over the last 1000 years. We require an artistic interpretation that will help anyone who visits the park understand the relevance of the Priory.  It is also important to make something that helps people regardless if they are local or visitors to the area as there is a high proportion of young people resident in this area of the city who are or have been students at of the two universities, Nottingham Trent University and The University of Nottingham. The exact location on the park for the public art is open for discussion.
