Experience of using and developing collections/asset management databases is essential (ideally Index+), as is working to Accreditation standard for core collections management procedures.

As a member of a busy and productive team there is plenty of opportunity to contribute to digital storytelling via our Collections Online producing content such as audio and film and engaging with platforms such as Periscope and Vimeo as well as hands on collections engagement. However administrative and documentation support to the Exhibitions & Collections Team’s programme of activities – including image rights, object information, object work flow and data management is also a key component.

Reporting to the Keeper of Collections (initially Head of Exhibitions and Collections), and working closely with all Exhibitions & Collections colleagues and external stakeholders, the Collections Documentation Officer contributes to, and helps deliver key strategic objectives across our programme. These comprise an Acquisition Programme, Collections Online, Loans and Touring Exhibitions, the Collections and Asset Management Systems, Collections Audit and Storage, and Collections Management Policy and Procedures – all to recognised museum documentation standards and guidelines.
