Community Commission

Groups and organisations based in and around Bulwell and the wider Nottingham(shire) area are invited to propose activations as part of Wonder Woods 2020.

Wonder Woods is a year-long programme, featuring seasonal festivals, community projects and artist commissions. It will be delivered by an innovative partnership managed by The Toy Library working with Nonsuch and other local partners. It will create a new outdoor space for drama, visual and performance arts and creative media embedded within the landscaping of a community woodland in Barkers Wood, Nottingham.

Groups and organisations are invited to produce high quality, accessible work in preparation for and during the festival days. The commission will focus on celebrating nature. It seeks to attract communities to reconnect with their natural surroundings, and rediscover the magic and beauty of this woodland area.

We want the majority of works to be opportunities for public engagement and interaction. These can be influenced by the season of the festival to varying degrees but should aim to illuminate the woodland surroundings to create a sense of wonder.

The 2020 events will take place on Saturday 18th April 2020 and Saturday 11th July 2020, in Barkers Wood, Bulwell. The events are expected to attract around 4,000 people, mainly local families, community members and groups.
