Community Project Coordinator

We are looking for a Community Project Coordinator and Facilitator to build on a longstanding partnership with a local community centre and a new partnership with Rugby Black Lives Matter group. The Coordinator will use Rugby Art Gallery and Museum collections to explore and expand local stories, with activities that include outreach sessions at the community centre, collections digitisation, oral history recordings, collaborative displays, and visual art workshops.  The aim of the project is to connect with residents and enable them to discover, contribute to and influence the town’s local history collection.

The coordinator role would include the following responsibilities:

  • Connecting communities, particularly residents from a diverse range of backgrounds and actively listening to the group and how they want their neighbourhood, background and culture to be represented.
  • Working with existing participants at the Benn Partnership Centre, whilst encouraging new members to the group.
  • Facilitating group sessions, reminiscence, co-production of exhibitions (assisted by Rugby Art Gallery and Museum team).
  • Working with the group to identify and commission artists and creatives who can work with them on the project.
  • Coordinating the oral history part of the project facilitated by a specialist as necessary.
  • Actively engaging, developing and overseeing volunteers to support areas of the project including, collections work, collaborative displays, audience engagement, training and events. Coordinating volunteer timetable.
  • Working with the Senior Collections Officer to deliver access to collections, digitisation, cataloguing and oral history acquisitions.
  • Working with the Arts Development Officer, Senior Learning and Outreach Officer and Benn Partnership Centre to ensure the successful delivery of the project’s outreach programme.
  • Ensuring the project is documented and evaluated and coordinating the report for funders (with support from Senior Collections Officer).
  • Working with the Marketing Officer to contribute to the marketing plan for the project.
  • The project coordinator/facilitator would be fully supported by the RAGM team to ensure a successful project, including establishing clear roles and responsibilities.

Project to begin March 2021 (subject to funding) running for 18 months.
