Creative Workshop Leader

For the 2019 Nottingham Light Night we are looking for an Artist to run a creative, hands on activity to promote ArtSpeak.

ArtSpeak is a peripatetic outreach programme in Nottingham with an open invitation for people aged 60+ to get out, get creative, feel good and enjoy life to the full. ArtSpeak hubs will be set up in community and cultural venues and become social meeting points for sharing, developing and learning creative skills. The programme will cover a range of art mediums and will involve: creative crafts, participatory workshops, collaborative projects, gallery visits and live performances.

On 8th February 2019, we will be hosting our first ArtSpeak Pop Up event. We are looking for an Artist to engage the public in a creative activity that builds an intrigue into the programme, leaves a positive representation and encourages our target audience to return to one of our hubs.

We are open to suggestions, but this could either be something that the participant completes and takes away with them as a reminder of the programme, or it might be a collaborative piece that builds with the input of different participants and is on display at the venue for the duration of the evening.

The venue –

The pop up will be taking place in Nottingham’s Urban Room, 38 Carrington Street; a newly renovated exhibition space. The workshop will need to be run as a drop-in session. There is a sink in the venue and we will be able to provide two trestle tables.

The event –

Light Night is a city-wide public arts event with various activities for people to engage in. With so much to see and get around in the evening, audiences are quick to visit a venue before moving on. Therefore, any activity needs to instantly grab attention and the participatory elements need to be simple to complete on a drop-in basis.

You will be required to have public liability insurance.

The fee is £150 to include all materials. The event will run from 17:00 – 21:00
