Director of CVAN

BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art is a major international centre for contemporary art located on the South bank of the River Tyne at the foot of the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, in Gateshead in the North East of England. It presents a constantly changing, distinctive and ambitious programme of exhibitions and events, and is a world leader in the presentation, commissioning and communication of contemporary visual art.

Director of CVAN (Contemporary Visual Arts Network)

Hours: 22 hours per week over 3 days
Salary: £40k pro rata
Location: Flexible. If the successful candidate is not based in North East, home working may be considered. Some travel to BALTIC in Gateshead may be required.

The Contemporary Visual Arts Network (CVAN) represents and supports a diverse and vibrant visual arts ecology, embracing a broad range of artistic and curatorial practice. There are 11 networks located across the nine English regions which collectively form the Contemporary Visual Arts Network (www.cvan.org.uk).

We are currently recruiting a Director to lead the overall strategy and operations of CVAN, working with its members to help shape the future direction of the network. We are looking to appoint a visionary and exceptional leader to build on the recent success of the network and take CVAN forward.

The ideal candidates will have extensive working knowledge of the Visual Arts Sector and experience of delivering multi-stakeholder projects and campaigns in the cultural or creative industry. Outstanding communication skills are essential for this role, along with the ability to strategically develop networks and experience in developing and maintaining relationships at a high level.
