ESP is Eastside Projects’ Associate Scheme. Since 2008 ESP has provided vital infrastructure and supported artists and curators, at all career stages, to research, produce and thrive.
The ESP and Public Programmer collaborates with Eastside Projects’ Directors and staff and ESP members to devise, produce and deliver a dynamic programme of events, projects and opportunities. ESP takes a holistic approach to artist development and overlapping strands support our diverse membership though a combination of Public Programming (talks, events, symposia); Practice Development activity (workshops, toolkits, socials, Away Days, crits, studio visits); Opportunities (residencies, exhibitions, publications); and national projects (eg. The Syllabus and 3-Phase).
This role is hands on and delivery focused. As ESP and Public Programmer you will lead, manage and deliver the ESP and Public programme and will be at the centre of the ESP community.
- You will generate programming which connects to Eastside Projects’ wider curatorial activity, whilst also being responsive to members’ needs and the evolving conditions of contemporary art production and practice.
- As the public ‘face’ of ESP you will lead events and host guests. You will be the main point of contact for members so need to be sociable, outgoing and able to confidently build relationships with members at different stages in their careers, and a wide range of other collaborators, partners and stakeholders.
- You will be adaptable and practical, with a proven ability to initiate projects and generate and deliver high quality programming focussed on contemporary visual arts. You will need to be based in, or prepared to move to, Birmingham or the West Midlands. Working patterns vary depending on activity and this role will often require you to work unsociable hours.
- We would ideally like the new ESP programmer to begin working with Eastside Projects in July 2017.
