Exhibitions Coordinator is a fixed term maternity cover for a minimum of 9 months from October 2019. The position plays a vital role in planning, coordinating and delivering a varied programme of exhibitions at RBSA Gallery.
The successful candidate will support the delivery of all exhibitions across three floors of the RBSA Gallery and occasionally off-site. They will coordinate and administer ‘call for entries’ on all submission exhibitions, as well as assisting with historic exhibitions from our Collection and facilitating groups who hire the gallery. Writing, editing and producing text and labels for each exhibition is a key part of the job.
The role will suit a self-motivated individual with exceptional administrative skills gained through working in a gallery or museum environment. An excellent communicator and problem solver, the post holder will have strong organisational skills, excellent time management, and the ability to adapt to a wide variety of challenges.
The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA) is an artist-led charity which supports artists and promotes engagement with the visual arts through a range of inclusive exhibitions and learning programmes. The Society owns and runs the RBSA Gallery, located just off St Paul’s Square in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter.
Working hours & Salary
The post is 2 days per week. Standard working hours are between Monday to Friday, from 9.00am to 5.15 pm with 30 minutes for lunch. Paid hourly at £8.93 per hour for 15.5 hours per week, (equivalent to £17,954 per annum pro rata). Occasional paid overtime may be required.
