Finance Director

ACAVA (the Association for Cultural Advancement through Visual Art), is an educational charity that supports the development, practice and understanding of the contemporary visual arts. We deliver extensive learning and participation programmes for local communities and provide studios for over 500 artists in 20 buildings, mostly in London, and recently expanding into Essex and Stoke-on-Trent. ACAVA was founded some 35 years ago and has evolved over this period. The organisation has been operating from its purpose-built North Kensington offices, accessible studios and community space for 20 years, and we have built strong links with the local communities in the area over this time.

Alongside our studios, we provide making facilities and continuing professional development opportunities for artists at all stages of their careers.  Studio holders are members of ACAVA and collectively make up an inspirational creative community. ACAVA artists, and other practitioners, help to deliver our core charitable purpose; to engage communities in the participation, creation and understanding of contemporary art and design.

Current activities include our family workshops, Flourish: Journey summer programme, the NHS-funded Art for Wellbeing Everyday, and the Grenfell Memorial Mosaic (see https://www.acava.org/education-and-community/current-projects for more details).

We are seeking a new Finance Director to join ACAVA at an exciting moment in the organisation’s development.  Our Assistant Director (Finance and Administration) will retire at the end of November 2018, so we have created this new Finance Director role as an important leadership position to build and maintain the charity’s financial resilience, working closely with our recently appointed Chief Executive Officer to support our charity through a significant period of transition and into a transformed future.

This is a key leadership role which offers the opportunity to take on a meaningful challenge, supporting a charity as it goes through a period of positive change and playing an important development role within a talented and committed team.

We value equal opportunities, diversity and inclusivity, and encourage people from a wide range of backgrounds to apply.
