Freelance Artists

We are seeking freelance artists to collaborate on our Learning programmes. Our Learning programme works with 39,000 participants a year, focusing on engaging local audiences with Wakefield’s Art Collection and our exhibition programme.

We are looking to recruit early career artists with an interest in engaging broad audiences in their practice and experienced artist-educators based in Yorkshire. Artists will work in collaboration with our Learning Team to devise and deliver workshops and projects for schools and colleges, families, young people outside of formal education and our local communities.

We are seeking artists working in the following disciplines:

  • Sculpture / 3D
  • Printmaking
  • Clay
  • Plaster
  • Outdoor learning
  • Graphic design
  • Photography
  • Textiles
  • Poetry/literacy/storytelling
  • Performance

We are also seeking artists with experience of teaching in the classroom (KS1–4, FE) and facilitating teacher CPD, and artists who have experience of developing resources for students, teachers and families.
