We are looking for a Gallery Technician who will be an integral part of our continued success in delivering exceptional exhibitions at our world-class gallery. Major exhibitions over the past year have included The Hepworth Prize for Sculpture and retrospectives of both Martin Parr and Stanley Spencer and a newly commissioned installation by Anthea Hamilton. In July we were chosen as Art Fund Museum of the Year 2017. This is the world’s largest and most prestigious prize for museums, rewarding the museum that has shown exceptional imagination, innovation and creativity in all areas of the business.
As well as regularly changing major exhibitions by contemporary artists, we house Wakefield’s art collection and rarely seen works by Barbara Hepworth.
As our Gallery Technician, you will work closely with the Gallery Manager to deliver high-quality planning and production of all technical aspects of the exhibitions and events programme and to help manage and care for its unique collection.
You will have sound practical skills and technical knowledge as well as relevant experience of exhibition planning, production and installation gained in a gallery or museum environment. You will also have experience of collections management and care.
If you are a professional, motivated and enthusiastic individual who has strong relationship building skills and a positive attitude allied with strong technical skills, we would love to hear from you. Please note that is a short term, full-time contract for a period of 5 months to start as soon as possible. This may lead to a permanent position.
