About the job:
Leicester Arts and Museums Service is looking for a new Heritage & Engagement Manager to help to support its vision to make Leicester special by involving and inspiring residents and visitors and celebrating the stories of Leicester’s diverse communities, its unique places and art and heritage which have helped shape the city’s identity.
You Will:
Develop and manage initiatives enabling greater use of and access to the city’s heritage/museum environment in a range of mediums (digital and physical) to people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds
Manage, support and develop an establishment of five staff, including voluntary and sessional support and manages budget(s) totalling up to £100,000, and other financial and material resources.
Work in partnership with organisations/communities to promote local built and cultural heritage
Be responsible for activities, exhibitions and projects which make the city’s heritage accessible, including the development of heritage panels and the management of the Heritage Open Days programme
Be responsible for the learning programme, developing an offer which increases the number of children and young people engaging with the city’s museums and which involves people of all ages
Manage the heritage, learning, community engagement and health and wellbeing budgets, ensuring that expenditure remains within budget and income is maximised
Requirements of the post:
Ability to develop built and cultural heritage projects including knowledge of different methods of interpretation
Staff management including improving performance and delivering culture change, leading, coaching and developing a team
Management of budgets, external funding agreements and income-generating activities
High level of written and verbal interpersonal skills, including ability to manage conflict, build positive relationships and communicate effectively
Formal qualification in museum or heritage studies or related subject
Experience in the successful development and delivery of learning and community-based projects
