Keeper

Leeds Museums and Galleries seeks to appoint a Keeper of Leeds Industrial Museum and Thwaite Mills, our two listed industrial heritage sites.

This post reports to the Head of Operations and leads on the day-to-day management of the sites as well as delivering the site development plans on a strategic basis, ensuring that each museum provides a high quality visitor experience, which is distinctive, appropriate, sustainable and meets the needs of the people of Leeds and visitors to the city.

The successful candidate will bring experience of operational management, of developing partnerships and an ability to work effectively as part of a team both at sites and across the Service.

Leeds Museums and Galleries is the largest local authority museum service in the country and an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. We hold one of the most important encyclopaedic collections in the UK with an estimated 1.3 million objects, which include our historic buildings. Our industrial history collections are one of our four Designated collections.

We promote diversity and want a workforce that reflects the population of Leeds.

All new Leeds City Council appointments are made subject to the satisfactory completion of a six month probationary period.
