Learning Assistant

Attenborough Arts Centre is the University of Leicester’s Arts Centre, open to all, with 3 contemporray art galleries, a studio theatre, 3 art studios and a balcony gallery. We have a busy learning and outreach programme that works with communties, schools, groups, families and young people, to help them access the excellent whats on, creative learning and exhibitions programme we offer.

We are now seeking to recruit a Learning Assistant to support this busy programme.

This is a new, temporary fixed term contract initially for 6 months. Offered at Grade 3 sp6, 0.6 (3 days a week).

Salary is £16,000 pro rata, or £10.05/hour

Job Purpose: To support the Education and Outreach Officer and Learning team in the day to day administrative running of Attenborough Arts Centre’s programmes of learning, activities and events.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience (Indicate which are essential and which are desirable):

Essential:

• Knowledge of how to support children with a range of disabilities – essential*
• Knowledge of the ethos of AAC – desirable
• Awareness of health and safety issues – essential*
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion policies. – essential*
• Understanding of safeguarding – essential*
• 5 GCSE passes at Grade C or above, or equivalent, to include Maths and English*
• Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word*
• Numeracy*
• Experience of dealing with customers*
• To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.*

• Some prior broadly related work experience in the arts*

Location: This role will be working on site at the Attenborough Arts Centre

Additional information: This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, as well as providing relevant information to AAC to prove eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
