Producer Public Engagement and Learning (IWM Duxford), Imperial War Museums

IWM is launching a new Public Engagement and Learning programme which is courageous, authoritative, relevant, and empathetic. This new way of programming will embrace other disciplines such as STEM, theatre, journalism, and visual art and will use creative learning techniques to offer different perspectives on our subject matter. It will achieve measurable impact on our audiences using our collections and exhibition seasons to realise IWM’s potential in delivering a global citizenship agenda for adults, schoolchildren, young people, and families.

IWM Duxford is currently the focus of a site-wide Master Plan project to produce a public offer that is visitor experience focussed, enabling IWM Duxford to reach its potential as a nationally and internationally significant museum. IWM Duxford is also home to the hugely successful and popular Duxford air shows, held 3 times a year on the IWM Duxford airfield. The award-winning American Air Museum reopened to the public in March 2016 after undergoing an extensive transformation. The new museum tells the story of two nations united through war, loss, love and duty, from the First World War to the present day.

This particular role will have the opportunity to feed into the Public Engagement & Learning strands of these projects and programmes, as well as to work on projects at IWM’s other branches. We are particularly looking for candidates who have experience of STEM related programming.
