Project Impact Evaluator

BACKGROUND

The University of Leicester is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to conduct a) an impact evaluation and b) a future development plan for Leicestershire Victoria County History Trust’s Charnwood Roots project. The resulting reports will form part of Leicestershire Victoria County History Trust’s final project evaluation report which will be submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund. The budget available for the project is £12,500. The evaluation will take place between 1st May and 31st July 2017. A first draft of the report should be submitted by 31st August 2017 with the final report by the 31st October 2017.

CHARNWOOD ROOTS

Leicestershire Victoria County History Trust was awarded a Heritage Grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund in 2013 and supporting grants from other organisations to carry out its first major project, Charnwood Roots.

Charnwood Roots is a community-based research project focussing on Charnwood Forest in north Leicestershire. The four-year project aims to train 400 volunteers from the community to research and record the history and heritage of 35 towns and villages in and surrounding Charnwood Forest from antiquity to present day. Volunteers work with historians, archaeologists and other heritage professionals on a wide range of research activities: archival research, oral history projects, community digs, landscape surveys, fieldwalking and historic building surveys. The project also has a programme of outreach activities to provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn about the history of Charnwood.
