Schools & Colleges Manager

The Hepworth Wakefield is an award-winning art gallery in the heart of Yorkshire, set within Wakefield’s historic waterfront, overlooking the River Calder. Designed by the acclaimed David Chipperfield Architects, the gallery opened in May 2011 and has already welcomed two million visitors and regularly receives national and international acclaim.

Named after Barbara Hepworth, one of the most important artists of the 20th century, who was born and brought up in Wakefield, the gallery presents major exhibitions of the best international modern and contemporary art. It is also home to Wakefield’s art collection – an impressive compendium of modern British and contemporary art – and has dedicated galleries exploring Hepworth’s art and working process.  In 2017, we were awarded Art Fund Museum of the Year. We value all our staff and their commitment to driving this success.

We are seeking an experienced Schools & Colleges Manager to devise, coordinate and evaluate our programme for schools, colleges and universities, and coordinate CPD networks for teachers and professionals. You will be joining at an exciting time, as The Hepworth Wakefield leads the cultural regeneration of Wakefield’s historic waterfront, including the creation of The Hepworth Riverside Gallery Garden, designed by Tom Stuart-Smith; a new ‘playful area’; and the development of a new creative hub in the 19th-century Rutland Mill. You will work closely with the Senior Learning Manger and the wider Programme team to devise additional programming across the site.

We are looking for someone who has a thorough understanding of the National Curriculum, national and local health and wellbeing agendas, and the experience of developing and evaluating programmes for schools, colleges and universities within a public arts organisation.

You will be a highly organised, audience-focused individual with excellent communication skills, which will enable you to develop successful and sustainable partnerships and collaborations.

If you have experience of developing high-quality learning provision for formal learning audiences within a museum or gallery setting, we would love to hear from you.
