Shop Supervisor

The Hepworth Wakefield is an award-winning art gallery in the heart of Yorkshire, set within Wakefield’s historic waterfront, overlooking the River Calder. Designed by the acclaimed David Chipperfield Architects, the gallery opened in May 2011 and has already welcomed more than 2 million visitors and regularly receives national and international acclaim.

Named after Barbara Hepworth, one of the most important artists of the 20th century who was born and brought up in Wakefield, the gallery presents major exhibitions of the best international modern and contemporary art. It is also home to Wakefield’s art collection – an impressive compendium of modern British and contemporary art – and has dedicated galleries exploring Hepworth’s art and working process.

The Hepworth Wakefield’s retail offer provides vital income to The Hepworth Wakefield ensuring the gallery’s continued viability and sustainability. We are seeking a Shop Supervisor to work as part of our dynamic retail team, assisting the Shop Manager with the day to day running of the gallery shop and online shop. With relevant customer services experience, preferably gained in a retail environment, you need to be reliable, flexible and able to lead a well-informed, motivated sales team who positively contribute to The Hepworth Wakefield’s culture of excellent customer service.

This is a key role in the retail team and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to positively impact the day to day running of the entire retail offer.

The retail team operates over seven days and we are looking for someone whose shift pattern can include regular weekend hours. Additional hours may be available and offered on a monthly basis in advance.
