Student Engagement Coordinator

The Barber Institute of Fine Arts are seeking an exceptional individual to join the team in the role of Student Engagement Coordinator.

The Student Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for researching, designing, delivering and evaluating a dynamic and critically-engaged programme of student engagement focussed specifically on University of Birmingham students and their engagement with the Barber collections, exhibitions and heritage.  The post-holder will also contribute to the planning and delivery of the successful Barber Lates programme.  The role sits within the Barber’s newly-formed Public Engagement team which delivers our renewed strategic vision for visitor experience, learning and public engagement.

We are open to hearing from candidates with relevant past experience from a wide range of settings who possess demonstrable and transferable skills and an enthusiasm for working in arts and young people’s engagement.

The Barber was founded in 1932 and established for ‘the study and encouragement of art and music’.  It is recognised internationally as one of the finest small art galleries in the world.  Our listed Art Deco building houses one of the most outstanding and significant art collections assembled during the 20th century which is displayed alongside temporary exhibitions, high-profile loans and displays and a remarkable concert hall.  All of this combines to offer a unique, atmospheric and very special visitor experience.

Through our programmes the Barber aims to enhance learning, facilitate the big conversations and change lives- are you the right person to help make this happen?
