Studio Programme Manager (9 month contract – Maternity Cover)

British Ceramics Biennial are recruiting for a Studio Programme Manager to join their team on a 9 Month Fixed Term Contract, Maternity Cover.

The British Ceramics Biennial (BCB) launched in 2009 with a festival celebrating and showcasing contemporary ceramics from across the world in the ceramic city of Stoke-on-Trent. 10 years on and building up to our 6th festival, 2019 is an exciting year full of fantastic artist commissions, exhibitions, and engagement with local, national and international audiences.

BCB is a small arts organisation with big ideas and ambitions, and a good track record. 2019 is the 10th anniversary of BCB, and the year of our 6th festival. Alongside the festival programme, there is year-round engagement activity, through the community, studio, education and artistic programmes. The BCB studio is located in Spode Works, Stoke-on-Trent, and has been open for regular public engagement since 2016. The studio is a lively place, with many different users accessing the space at different times.

This role would be a fantastic opportunity for a practising ceramic artist who enjoys working with others and would like to play a key role in the delivery of the British Ceramics Biennial Festival 2019. A varied workload, this job would encompass project management, delivery of practical workshops and studio organisation, as well as working, both behind-the-scenes and front-of-house, on one of the most exciting events of the year in the field of Contemporary Ceramics.

We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter who is happy working with minimal supervision. Practical knowledge of ceramics, and enthusiasm and commitment to working within the context of public engagement is essential.
