Two Queens seeks a chair for a new board of trustees

The chairperson will be involved in the formation of a new board of advisors/trustees, in charge of overseeing the organisational development and running of Two Queens.

Two Queens is an Artist Led gallery space and studio complex in the Cultural Quarter of Leicester which has provided a programme of exciting public exhibitions in the city for over 8 years. With a critical approach to artistic programming and an interest in experimental modes of exhibition making, Two Queens is committed to providing the opportunity for emerging artists to develop new ways of working on an ambitious scale.

We are the biggest studio group in the City with a studio membership of 50+ artists and a growing associate membership scheme which provides regular support to artists in the form of monthly group crit sessions, exhibition opportunities with partner organisations across the UK, artist talks, events and studio visits with a range of visiting professional artists and curators. We want to invest our energy into developing new models and ways of working, which embody a culture of care, responsibility and meaningful support for artists.

We are inspired by Leicester and want to contribute to the development of the artistic and creative infrastructure in the city, by retaining and developing local talent, providing a high quality platform for artists to exhibit and develop links with peer organisations and networks across the UK and beyond. It is also our ultimate aim to retain a free public space within the heart of the cultural quarter to enrich the day to day lives of residents and visitors to the city.

We are looking for a chair who understands the ethos and aims of Two Queens as an artist-run space, and the unique contributions and challenges that come with an organisation of this kind. The chair will take an active role in strengthening the organisational structure, opening up new and alternative sources of funding, and be willing to lead a group of fellow trustees with skills relevant to the organisation’s aspirations.

We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in working as part of a board of trustees, fundraising, capital projects and working with National Portfolio organisations.

To apply for this position please provide a personal statement of no more than 500 words stating what you would bring to the role, alongside a CV and/or examples of your relevant work and experience. Applications should be made by email to info@2queens.com, and pre-application enquiries can be made to the same address. The deadline for application is 31st Jan 2020
