Having grown from putting on small pop-up film nights in pubs to producing a festival attracting 14,000 visitors, Flatpack Projects is a nationally respected organisation which delivers a host of year-round projects and events alongside our annual festival. The thirteenth edition of our festival takes place across Birmingham between 30 April – 5 May 2019.

The Role

Incorporating everything from film screenings to hands on workshops making moomin puppets, our Colour Box events for children have grown in number and popularity over the last two years, and we’re now looking to expand these further. You will play a vital part in building relationships with schools, developing our year round family offering and overseeing the running of our 3 day Colour Box mini-fest that will take place during the next Flatpack Festival.

Key responsibilities

• Act as main point of contact for artists, workshop leaders and venues for Colour Box events, including during the festival
• Oversee all logistical aspects of Colour Box events, including sourcing materials, preparing briefs for any volunteers required and writing risk assessments
• Build and maintain relationships with schools through running taster sessions and attending networking events
• Research and develop an offering for 11-18 year olds with our Operations Manager
• Work with the Marketing team to develop an evaluation strategy for Colour Box events
• Support our Programmer in developing and delivering our touring packages of short films for children
• Support with writing reports for funders on Colour Box activity

Experience & Skills

• Working with schools or within education, specifically Primary and Secondary education
• Excellent relationship management
• Good prioritisation and problem solving
• Interest in the arts and sharing this with young people
