Youth Programme: Outreach Workshop Facilitator

This is a casual position funded by WMMD Audience Development Fund.

The Role:

The role will involve the delivery of outreach workshops at strategic sites across the Birmingham area. The facilitator will deliver ‘taster’ art workshops for young people aged 15-21. This outreach work aims to engage this audience with The Barber Institute of Fine Arts’ youth programme, The Barber Collective. The outreach workshops will be pre-planned and agreed with the Learning and Engagement team.

  • Sessions will be booked on an ad-hoc basis and will last up to 2 hours
  • The facilitator will receive a fee of £50 per outreach session.
  • Travel expenses from The Barber Institute to the outreach site will be covered.
  • Where possible, facilitators will be accompanied by a volunteer.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience working with 15-21 year olds
  • Experience working in a public focussed environment
  • An engaging and positive delivery style
  • Motivated by engaging  young people with art and creativity

Desired Criteria

  • Experience delivering art based workshops
  • Experience of public speaking/ delivering lessons
