Members Exhibition 2022

The Modern Painters, New Decorators annual Members Exhibition showcases recent work by studio holders and associates, encompassing painting, print, sculpture and installation. Our members are all practising artists with a tie to Loughborough and are made up of students, emerging, established and self-taught artists. The exhibition will be titled ‘Not An Opera’. Inspired by a conversation, the title reflects ideas of simplicity, harmony and scale.

About Modern Painters, New Decorators

Modern Painters, New Decorators is an artist-led organisation running a gallery, shop and studios from a shopping centre in Loughborough, East Midlands. We believe that artists can positively impact where we live and why we live there. We make visual art projects, community workshops and creative networks. The project was started in 2017 by artists and makers connected to the town.

About Our Members

Artists can positively impact our places and why we live there. As such, we feel it’s only right to make space and resources to help artistic activity thrive in our neighbourhood. Our membership scheme helps artists find a community, meet other creatives and participate in opportunities to grow as artists.
