About
In partnership with QUAD, BOM, Vivid Projects, Furtherfield and The Photographers’ Gallery, we’re launching an online exhibition which will explore alternative web protocols and careful networking on a peer to peer network (P2P).
With this project we hope to encourage more people to explore P2P networks and spark discussions around the ethics of making and showing work online, as well as exploring more sustainable web practices.
As part of Careful Networks, 12 artists will be finding new and engaging ways to create digital artwork suitable to the P2P format. File sizes will be limited and this will encourage the artists to think differently about their work, and create some interesting results!
The participating artists are: Larisa Blazic, Daniel Sean Kelly, Nisa Khan, Rhiannon Lowe, Emily Mulenga, Antonio Roberts, Ailie Rutherford, Christopher Samuel, Samiir Saunders, Shinji Toya, Nye Thompson and Lily Wales.
Each of the artists works will be hosted by another artist and the network will exist through a collaborative act of care and stewardship. We’d love for you to get involved and participate in the care of the network!
The exhibition will launch on a temporary P2P network on 29th October before being archived and available on regular web browsers during Leicester Art Week from 12th November.
The exhibition can be accessed at carefulnetworks.net
