About
Jagjit Kaur is a Leicester based artist, commonly working in painting and digital collage. Drawing on Indian culture and her Sikh heritage, her practice explores identity, whether that be relating to identity, gender or culture. Her digital collages piece together a combination of photos from gallery archives, personal family and editorial fashion.
Led by Jagjit herself, the online workshop will demonstrate and guide a small number of participants through the processes of creating digital collages, using open source software GIMP and the manipulation of found materials.
From this, a web-based community exhibition featuring the outcomes of the workshop, will be created and presented by Modern Painters, New Decorators.
The workshop will run over the course of three hours and will cover the basic principles of using found materials, how to use GIMP to create digital collages and an insight into the life of a practicing artist.
