About

Come and explore our exhibitions with our friendly learning team and use resources in the Salmon Gallery to explore through a range of creative workshops. Each week brings something new inspired by our gallery exhibitions Crip Arte Spazio: The Disability Arts Movement in Venice in Gallery 1 and Sabrina Tirvengadum: Who Were They? Who Am I? in Gallery 2 – perfect for families and children. Spaces are limited to give people enough space and are pre-bookable only.

When booking tickets, please book the accurate amount of children and adults coming to each workshop. Adults must stay with their children at all times.

Workshops are free for all but we offer Pay What You Can tickets to help support the continuation of this work for our communities.

Itinerary of workshops:

Workshop 1: Family storybooks – 5 April
In this fun workshop families are invited to create a unique storybook to keep. It could be about your visit to the gallery today, or an adventure you went on – or a family story you wish to share.

Workshop 2: Home is where the heart is – 15 March & 12 April
Connecting with Sabrina Tirvengadum’s quest to visualise her family history, join this fun family portrait session in the gallery. Using instant photography and collage to create your own unique family portrait.

Workshop 3: Banner making – 22 March, 26 April & 10 May
In this colourful and fun workshop we will explore the powerful use of words in this exhibition, and create our own paper-cut banners with powerful words. What matters to you and your family, and how can we make the worlds a better place for everyone?

Workshop 4: Tactile Portraits – 29 March & 3 May
Inspired by the incredible portraits in this exhibition, join us for this fun family portrait session. Enjoy swirling colours, experimenting with materials and capturing the essence of your sitter – this supportive session will enable everyone to create a tactile portrait to take home.
