About
Imara is a specialist service in Nottingham that empowers children and families to recover from the impacts of sexual abuse. We are a registered charity and rely entirely on funding and donations to deliver our much-needed services. We find creative arts therapies allow our clients to communicate in ways that come most naturally to them without having to find difficult words, enabling them to process what they have experienced through creativity and metaphor, and to overcome trauma.
Art therapy is one of the creative arts therapies offered by Imara and uses art media as its primary mode of expression and communication. We are holding an art auction in November this year in hopes of raising funds for our services and increasing awareness of child sexual abuse. The auction is predicted to have around one-hundred people in attendance with a speech from a high-profile guest speaker and an auctioneer present to sell the pieces.
Artists featured will have their work advertised through our social media channels in the months leading up to the event, and we will include promotional material for them in our monthly newsletter read by contributors and professionals. A photo, title and description of their artwork, along with their name and contact details will also be included in a brochure which will be distributed at the event, available online before and after the event, and displayed on a slideshow during the event. Furthermore, posters and leaflets advertising their work in the event will be distributed to local art galleries.
We are looking for donations to raise funds for our important services and further increase awareness of the amazing artistic talents in Nottingham.
