The exhibition will showcase contemporary perspectives from fifteen emerging artists, including twelve from MA Fine Art and three from MA Creative Writing at the University of Lincoln.
Exhibition Details:
Private View: 23rd August 2024, 18:00 – 20:00
Exhibition Dates: 24th – 27th August 2024, 10:00 – 16:00
Walk and Talk Tour with the Artists: 27th August 2024, 11:00 – 12:30 (Click here to book)
what? now refers to the graduate’s uncertainty about the future. Both daunting and exciting, graduates often wonder “where do I go from here?”. what? now is a leap into the unknown and an opportunity (for anything could happen). The title aptly reflects the ideas behind the exhibited work; political events of recent years, the role of Artificial Intelligence in Art, and the improvisational nature of play are but some of the concepts featured.
This degree show encapsulates a full range of eclectic art forms, from painting to performance, sculpture to film, and animation to textiles. The crossing of boundaries between materials, moods and methods of making is prominent within what? now, emphasised by the introduction of MA Creative Writing students to the exhibition.
During the Private View, visitors can also expect live art performances, each offering distinct expressions of contemporary themes. Expect explorations of identity, adversity, and a ‘special appearance’ from Elton John.
Artists: Gavin Brown, Emily Collyer, Ellie Duffield, Oliwia Dulisz, Marcus Eaglen, Carmen Guy, Paul Letchworth, Greta Major, Joseph Pearson, Melody Phelan-Clark, Harriet Pritchard, Nimra Qayyum, Anne Stansfield, Madara Vimba, Megan Whitelock.
‘’ What next? These students won’t merely predict their futures; they intend to actively and creatively shape both their careers and the world itself.’’ Dr Martin Lang, Programme Leader for MA Fine Art.
Audiences are also invited to engage directly with the artists during a guided ‘Walk and Talk Tour’ on 27th August from 11:00 starting in Project Space Plus, Peter-de-Wint Building located on the University of Lincoln campus. This tour provides an opportunity to meet the artists and gain deeper insights into their creative processes.
