Consultant Required for research into Visual Art in Sheffield

The Making Ways Project is seeking to appoint a freelance consultant to undertake a survey/review of the perception of Sheffield as a great city to be a visual artist. This needs to be a robust and useful survey which measures what it is like to be a visual artist in Sheffield today and how visual artists feel supported in the city.

Although this will be a distinct piece of work, a second strand of research will evaluate against this benchmark study at the end of the project, aiming to reflect and how Making Ways has enabled learning and new structures to be embedded, increased understanding of cultural value within the business community, delivered future/ additional opportunities, increased audience engagement and made visible the artist’s voice in the city’s strategic approach.

This first period of research will take place during spring 2017.

Making Ways is a three-year project, funded by Arts Council England’s Ambition for Excellence strand and a range of partners, that will demonstrate, celebrate and develop exceptional contemporary visual art produced in Sheffield.
