No Jobs in the Arts, in partnership with QUAD, want to support visual creatives working in the Midlands; we are seeking submissions for an untitled publication documenting an exhibition that never happened. The project will seek to promote work by disabled early-career creatives, working within the Midlands; we are particularly interested in hearing about artwork, or ideas for artwork, exploring environmental themes.
How to submit:
Send us the following three pieces of text, using this link:
https://www.nojobsinthearts.co.uk/projects/untitled-submission/
1. Describe an artwork you would like to make and share in a gallery space (use no more than 50 words). As this description of an artwork is fictional – there are no limits on what
is possible.
2. A brief description of your practice (use no more than 50 words);
3. Basic contact information, and one relevant link; for example, to a website or Instagram account.
Eligibility criteria:
This opportunity is open to disabled early-career creatives currently living, working, or studying in the Midlands. This open call follows the social model of disability. You do not have to be a
blue badge holder or in receipt of disability benefits to be disabled. You can read more about the social model of disability here: https://www.shapearts.org.uk/news/social-model-of-disability
The creative opportunity:
Four creatives from the open call will be paid a half-day-fee of £125 to develop their artwork
description. The developed descriptions will be included in the untitled publication. The
publication will be distributed for free online, and in print at QUAD, Market Place, Cathedral
Quarter, Derby, DE1 3AS. All project work will be delivered online, and the hours are flexible.
The opportunity has been made available by support from QUAD and Arts Council England.
Deadline:
The deadline for all submissions is 11pm on Monday, 27th November 2023.
