The Start of Something: first conversations

Following the project launch in March, four conversations were selected for support from the ten that were introduced at that event. The conversations that were selected are:

  • The Generator: Making a new creative community workspace in Loughborough – Presented by Catherine Rogers, Fred Brookes and Kevin Ryan
  • Film Free and Easy: Exploring non-hierachical collaboration and future innovative platforms for moving image – Presented by Belén Cerezo, Alice Gale-Feeney and Frank Abbott.
  • Art + Loneliness: how could current artistic practice be instrumental in combatting loneliness and enriching life for older people – Presented by Sam Read, Fermynwoods Contemporary Arts and Helen Wilmott, Made in Corby.
  • Colloquy of Process. Identifying common ground between individual disciplines to develop a new collaborative process of creative development resulting in new work – Presented by Andrew Bracey, Danica Maier and Emma Belli of Waddington Cultural Collective

We’ll bring you more about the conversations as they unfold.

The Start of Something is a project which, through conversation, seeks to bring people in the East Midlands together to explore a common goal, share experience and work collaboratively, ultimately to make things happen. Proposals for new conversations are invited at any time and CVAN EM will consider how it might support a conversation to take place to benefit the widest community and make the greatest difference within the region. Let us know if you would like to propose a topic.
