Can you tell us a bit about your practice?

I graduated from Nottingham Trent in 1998 (Photography). My work explores many themes related to the Black Diaspora and Africa-Europe connections, investigating the politics and semantics of cultural existence.

What are you currently working on?

My main project is 'Carnival...beyond the glitz of the parade', a 10-year (I hope no more) photographic project that documents the people and events that go on behind the flamboyant costumes of the Caribbean Carnival.

What would you like to see more of in the East Midlands?

More support for emerging and mid-career artists, and more opportunities for artists to exhibit and develop their practice in the region.
