About
We would warmly like to invite you to the opening of Mike Cooter’s exhibition, “The Mimic, the model and the Dupe”, at New Walk Museum on Thursday 15th March, 5.30pm-7.30pm.
This exhibition initially arose from discussions with Dr Dan Watt, Senior Lecturer in Drama at Loughborough University whose research is centred around the practice of Polish artist and theatre maker, Tadeusz Kantor. His work regularly challenged the nature of the object, and explored the possible ‘liveness’ of materials. Radar has invited Mike Cooter to develop an exhibition, utilising items from the collection of New Walk Museum that further investigated Kantor’s concern with the role of the object. The exhibition will present a variety of objects from the collection giving them a new narrative that draws on Kantor’s famous Anti-Exhibition and Leicester born naturalist Henry Walter Bates’ (1825-92) research into a form of mimicry that would take his name.
Please RSVP to: tony.spittle@leicester.gov.uk by Friday 9th March.
